Kgalagadi Transfrontier 4x4 Trails

Namibia 4x4 Wilderness Adventures

In 2000 the first Transfrontier Park was officially created between South Africa and Botswana, this was between the Kalahari Gemsbok Park in South Africa which borders the Gemsbok Park in Botswana, there was never a fence and animals had moved freely between these areas, but with the signing people could now move from the one to the other, and so was created the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

This 4x4 safari traverses the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park between South Africa and Botswana. The Nossob river forms the boundary between the countries and is also the main route. The Kalahari section in Botswana is the largest area of the Transfrontier Park, and in the far east lies Mabuasehube. We enter the Kgalagadi from the South at Twee Rivieren. The 4x4 trail starts at Nossob in South Africa and crosses the Kalahari to Mabuasehube, with an overnight at Motopi. There are several camp sites at Mabua to overnight, very basic and very rustic. From Mabua there is another wilderness trail to the north that runs back to Nossob. Then a second 4x4 wilderness trail is to the north, starting at Polentswa, goes toward Kaa gate and returns to Nossob. We overnight 2 nights on this trail. These are remote wilderness trails where wild animals like lion and Leopard roam freely.
